Tara Tucker

Co-Founder / Executive Producer

Tara Tucker is a co-founder and executive producer at Tucker/Hess Productions.

She was born and raised in the Monterey Bay, California. Though Tara studied fine art in her undergraduate studies, she experienced a twist of fate when she landed her first professional job in Los Angeles at Twentieth Century Fox. While working on AVATAR in the Consumer Products division, she fell in love with the craft of filmmaking as she witnessed the passion behind James Cameron, John Landau, and the staff at Lightstorm Entertainment.

After getting accepted into the prestigious American Film Institute in 2010, she quit her studio job to pursue her master’s degree. It was there that her life changed for two reasons. The first, she became empowered by the creative and professional tools necessary to create film (moving art). The second, she met her husband, Brandon Hess. During their final year at AFI, they partnered together to make their thesis film, and in the process, found in each other a divine completion. Shortly after their wedding day on January 11, 2014, they founded their production company.

Tara has produced many award winning films, including FIRST IN FLIGHT in 2012, which stars VEEP actor Tony Hale, Aaron Farb and music composed by the late, two-time Academy Award winner, James Horner; and that same year she produced WILD HORSES starring Mireille Enos, and cinematography by three-time Academy Award winner, Robert Richardson; and in 2016 she line produced the film THE GOOD TIME GIRLS out of the American Film Institute’s DWW program, which was directed by the HATEFUL EIGHT costume designer, Courtney Hoffman, which had an ensemble cast including Laura Dern, Alia Shawkat, Garret Dillahunt, Q’orianka Kilcher and Dana Gourrier. The next year in 2017, Tara co-produced the feature film, THE NANNY with Epic Pictures, and the following year produced THE ILLEGAL starring LIFE OF PI actor Suraj Sharma, which had a limited theatrical across the US and was released on VOD on January 12, 2021. Tara has been a producer on YouTube & Google’s Event and Experiences team since 2021, producing work for Brandcast, Google Marketing Live, The Creator Summit and Adweek New York. Tara and husband, Hess, stay busy year round producing commercials, developing film and tv content through their production company.

Tara has a true love for ‘story’, and believes it to be a powerful tool to communicate with the world.
